The console vs. PC debate is strong among gamers everywhere, but we’re not here to take sides. Instead, we are going to look at the situation objectively and try to guide newcomer gamers to the best choice based on their gaming habits.
As such, we are going to take a look at most devices one can use for gaming, not just consoles or gaming rigs.
Regular Devices
In this category, you can include any modern device that’s not specifically designed with gaming in mind (smartphones, tablets, laptops, regular PCs, and others).
Since most recent devices have enough power to run HD videos and support regular office activities, you can also use them for games that are not very demanding. For instance, you can have your pick on a platform like Crazy Games where classic games like Snake and Minecraft can be played in a browser.
In addition, you can even play some of the latest titles (on low requirements) on a standard PC or laptop.
On the other hand, if you’re eyeing a performant tablet, you can still enjoy the fun of gaming due to a wide range of IO games that are easily available in browsers and app stores.
The best thing about getting a regular device is that you don’t spend too much, you have access to all sorts of platforms, and you don’t have to give up games. Still, there’s the downside of not being able to play more advanced games, with high graphic requirements.
Gaming Consoles
With the release of PS5 and all the cool games available for PS4 and Xbox consoles, it’s easy to understand the hype. Gaming consoles are amazing when it comes to resources (especially the latest models) and provide users with a fantastic experience.
However, it’s important to know that consoles are pretty limiting since you can only play games available in their stores. As such, if a title is not available for your console, you can’t access it. But, if you have a PlayStation device, you are most likely to have access to all the recent titles (they have good relations with most big developers).
Gaming PC
Whether you’re a console fan or not, you have to agree that a custom-built gaming PC is the epitome of the gaming experience!
Users can decide on the amount of power, speed, and storage space to have. In addition, the latest graphic cards are insanely powerful and can render some of the highest graphic details without even a hiccup!
Even more, you are not limited by the same rules that govern the world of consoles. Basically, if your PC can run it, you can play it (assuming you can also afford it). For instance, a gaming PC can run some of the latest online RPGs and you don’t have to worry about cross-platform issues.
Lastly, a PC can be used for other activities as well (especially one that’s powerful enough to run the latest games).
Wrap Up
In the end, it’s important to understand your individual gaming needs before you can choose which system works best. As a starting point, it’s a good idea to consider the titles you would like to play in the following few months. This will give you a sense of the direction you should take when it comes to gaming hardware.
